New tank and sump

Well i got my 55 gallon up and running. I installed a 10 gallon sump to go along with it. This is really my first try at a sump. The piping confused the hell out of me, but i got it figured out. I think i needed a smaller diameter pipe for my suction side becuase i have to close the suction side some to match the flow of the pump. The pump is a quiet one 2200 and the skimmer is a skilter 250 with a mod (airstone in the reaction chamber to increase the output considerably.) So let me know what you think. The coral beauty angel is my favorite fish, but sadly he died two days ago from something.... I don't know what but im thinking its the longhorn cowfish....

Looks like you did a good job considering for your first sump. I am sorry about your Angelfish, but judging by the picture, it seems to look very pale and discolored. Your piping should be fine, you shouldn't have to change the diameter of PVC as long as you have ball valves on both the drain and return. Nice job.

Good Job!
I don't know anything about your particular setup - and I'm certainly not an expert - but it doesn't look like you have much capacity left in your sump for "drain down" water. You might want to be certain that, in the event of a power outage or a return pump failure, that you have enough room in your sump to hold the amount of water that would drain down from the overflow.
Just a suggestion - hope this helps...
Take Care
