Looks like the start of a very well planned tank supported by great equipment. Cant wait to see how it turns out

I will be flowing this one all the way through. I have my dads extra 120 in the garage. I have been dreaming of building it into the wall. I have made plans for building it in my closet. With custem shelves that will hold my clothes and so i can hang my clothes, My dad has one built-in in his room and it is nice. The tank is old so i am having it resealed, almost 2" thick glass, and am having brace's put underneath the floor to hold the weight. I cant wait to see what your tank is going to look like. Mine wont be as good as yours they don't give jobs away to 13year olds. Have fun

this tank is also in a closet that happens to back up to the living room wall. i removed the door to put in a slotted 6 foot bi fold doors. i have also run an ac duct into the closet to help keep the temp in the closet down. my ac return is also right outside the bedroom door so that i know i will have good air flow through the slotted doors.

i think the g2 will be fine....but i will moniter it very carefully......if i have any concern i will upgrade if i need to

Im not familiar with the ASM line of skimmers, but if theres a chance that a bigger skimmer would be more appropriate in the future, i would just get it now. looks like you are going all out.
The skimmer is probably the single most important item next to lighting. if youre spending good money on the entire system (calc reactor, wave maker, chiller, digital monitors, etc.) oversize the skimmer and get a top brand.

i agree but i already have the skimmer sitting in my stack of saltwater stuff........with the fuge and the wet dry, i think the skimmer should be able to do just fine. if i do see a problem starting i will purchase the g4, and that would be almost to much overkill, but i would not have a problem anymore

Don't worry about the skimmer for now unless you plan to stock the tank very, very heavy. The skimmer will be plenty.

That looks fun! You have a lot of LS for 125 gallon tank (250lbs). I have 160lbs in 150 and that is way too much, most will come out.
If I were you, I'd definitely update the skimmer to a larger one. G2 is small for over 200g of water volume. You need to calculate the complete water volume in your system, not just the size of the tank. I'd go with G4 for that system if I were building it.

The sand is for the tank and the fuge. The wet/dry sump is 50 gallons but will only hold about 18 to 20 gallons at the correct water level! Which still puts me under the g2 skimmer rating.

Looks very nice so far and sounds like you have thought this out very well. You are only putting 4 or 5 fish in? Are they all going to be fairly large or do you just not want a whole lot of fish? Either way, it should be a great tank.
One other thing to check into, I have heard that the modded maxi are not supposed to be run on a wavemaker. I am not sure. I have heard stories of it working and other stories of the maxi's not lasting even a couple of weeks. May want to do some research to make sure.

I have heard it shortens the life of them, but that is also something i have thought about. I am willing to give it a try myself and if i lose a few maxi jets, Well i will just have to set them up as normal. I think its worth the test run
