New tank, Dead coral?

hitch

New Member
I have an Eclipse 29 gal glass tank and I've added water, salt, argonite sand, and some dead hard coral pieces a friend game me. I am shooting for a FOWLR tank and was wondering if having dead hard coral in the tank would be godd/bad or ??
I haven't purchased my LR yet and was also wondering if it will make the dead coral LR as well?
Thanks

I personally don't like dead coral in a salt tank, when I see it, it makes me think it was alive, and it died and wasn't taken out, does that make sense? I know its its good for a tank without LR, helps raise PH. Just don't like it when its in a tank with LR. But you can do it if you want, it would be ok, won't hurt anything as long as its clean. Yrs ago, before I had LR I kept afew large pieces and a huge shell in a tank, and it was very striking until it got brown from algae, then I had to periodically remove it and bleach it. If you do that, always make sure all the bleach is removed before putting it back in your tank, that requires along time of soaking in clear water.
