HELP! I STARTED UP MY TANK ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO - 33 GAL - AFTER BEING TOLD BY THE STORE WHERE I BOUGHT EVERYTHING THAT IT HAD CYCLED AFTER ABOUT A MONTH (AND A WATER TEST BY HIM) I BOUGHT A NIGER TRIGGER, CLOWN 4 DAMSELS AND AN ANENOME (AND A PIECE OF LR) NEEDLESS TO SAY, ALL I HAVE LEFT IS A DOMINO AND THE ANENOME - I EVENTUALLY DEVELOPED ALGAE (RED/BROWN) ON THE BOTTOM, AND ALL LEVELS WERE OK - TRIED 2 MORE 3-STRIPE DAMSELS, AND THEY'RE NOW GONE - I'M THINKING MAYBE IT'S TEMP (SITTING AROUND 82) OR LIGHTING (JUST FOUND OUT IT SHOULD NOT RUN 24 HRS) ANY SUGGESTIONS?

First off,run the lights about 9hrs a day. Second you added too many fish at the same time. You should add one or two, then wait a couple weeks before you add more.Give the tank a chance to adjust slowly. Keep an eye on the amonia. Should stay around 0. What kind of light and filter are you using? Tell us all about your tank,we'll try our best to get your tank straightened out. Lastly, I would find a new fish store. That guy should have known the fish, not to mention the anenome, were doomed. Maybe he did,and smelled MONEY. STEVE

Fish are so delicate that anything they don't like or any stress put on them can kill them quite quickly. The fish get very stressed with the lights on more than 12 hours MAX. What and how often were you feeding your fish. If all of your levels are in check, these might be why your fish didn't stick around.

Hi me again. The filter I got is an Aqua Clear 300 (up to 70gal) and I'm not sure what the light is - it came in the top that I got with the tank and there is nothing written on the bulb - what type of light would be best? I've been feeding once a day - Wardley Total Color Marine. I still have the domino and the anenome, and amonia levels are non-existant, but I'm a little scared to put anything more in. Thanks for all your help - hopefully all will work out!

To support your anenome you need more than what came with the lid. I suggest you read the posts about lighting, yhere are quite a few. I would NOT add any more fish till your tank adjusts. STEVE
