New tank : live rock curing question

I've had multiple freshwater tanks over the last 8 years (still have 2 now) and have finally decided to take the plunge into the realm of saltwater. I have a 27 gallon cube tank that I want to do simple corals and a couple of clown fish. I have all the equipment purchased and am ready to go.
My question is about curing the live rock: I've been doing a lot of reading on this and most articles suggest that you cure the live rock in a separate unit (garbage can, tank, etc) as it's much easier to clean with no substrate. I do have a small 20 gallon tank that I could use for this process, but I've also read that if you do decide to cure the rock in the tank you are going to use it in it helps get the cycle going in that tank (although it's more difficult to clean with the substrate in there).
If I were to cure the rock in a separate tank, once it's clean and ready to go and I transfer it into the 27 gallon tank, won't the proper chemistry in that tank not be in place? Would I need to then cycle this tank as well for 2-3 weeks? Any input would be most welcome!!!

Well, IMO just go buy some cured lr from a lfs. With a tank that small, you don't need more than, 25lbs.... If you're concerned about cost, then buy about 12 lbs or so and 12 lbs of baserock....put them in the tank together and the baserock will turn into liverock I. 6mo or so.
Also, your tank will cycle a lot faster.

i would put it in the dt and let it cycle. when you do a water change get a small pump and blow the rocks free from junk.
