New Tank Question

I'm setting up a brand new 35g FISH ONLY Hex tank with the bio-ball system next weekend in my daughters room.
My question is, what would be the best way to start this tank off on the right foot? I want to do this right the first time.
Substraight?
Lighting?
Filtering?
Fish? (I have 2 clowns in a QT that I want to put in there)
should I have snails?
how about hermits?
You get the idea.
Thanks, JamesP

well just from reading your specs from the other tank, you seem to already have some experience. the set up you described seems to be a good one. have you had any problems with your exsisting setup? why don't you just stick with what worked for you on you 125g? i wouldnt immediately add snails and stuff though until you tank has stabilized. any further questions please ask, good luck! :D

Well I bought that tank used and it came with everything list except the LS and lighting. It's a reef tank and I the new will be a fish only. I'm a beginner and don't know the do's and dont's quite yet.

oh yes, lr is ok for afish only, but it would then no longer be a fo, but a fowlr instead, but yes they go real well together, and the lr only adds to the tank and bio filter, not to mention the addition of food and shelter for your fishes

So would the light still be RO? or would I want the blue light also? (sorry don't know the code for that) :)

RO referrrs to water , rverse osmossis
do you mean NO, normal output?
lr really does not have a lighting requirement for lighting, but some of the things on hte rock that you want need more lighting, the blue lighting or actinic is needed by many inverts and corals more than lr, but your coraline and other macro algaes need different intensity lightin, and most species are different, but in any sw tank, wi would use something stronere and brighter than stnadard NO lighting, it helps alot with the appearance of your fish as well as the growht of other things in the tank
