I feel like I've said this Million times before, but here we go.. so i have a 55 and for the last 2 months my tank hasn't been good(water quality, poor diet ect.) . Its been two weeks now and I'm just starting to come over the hump. I've been doing 5/10 gallon water changes for the last 2 months . I did a 5 gallon water change the 15th of this month and i just tested my water now..
phosphate .18
nitrite: .04
Ph:8.2
alk 2ish
ammonia: .1
so there that.. let me know what you think..
On to the questions:
1: my yellow tang has HLLE from poor diet I'm sure.. so I switch over to a brand of frozen foods with lots of "stuff" in it. I soak it in OJ and garlic that i mix up and freeze it in that. I just got "sea veggies" green seaweed;I put a piece in, attached it to my magnet but i don't think my tang ate any of it.also left it in over night and my water the next day looked kinda cloudy? any thoughts there. How to get it to eat it? and anything about feeding.
2: I've been putting in Kent marine essential elements.. last douse was the 9th.. should i continue with dousing? its a half a year old so i don't even know if it still good?
3: I only have maybe a half inch of sand.. would getting more help my SWT?. If i don't keep changing 5 gallons water every week once or twice a week. my levels grow kinda fast:/ so i don't know how to fix that. And a have a little canyo problem; every week I pick it off the sand bed but i never can get all the sand off. so I'm constantly losing sand. Ik there many forms about canyo but any thoughts there as well.
Wow! I hope someone reads all this:p

Remove the carbon. Replace or clean the sand, take care not to kill your fish when cleaning the sand...

I know you dont need carbon for your tanks; but in my situation i dont know if thats the best plan.. and i clean my sand every week with the turkey baster and my rocks.

That's interesting but doesn't help me figure out what is 100% causing it seeing how my tank had stray electrical current, poor diet, probaly no or little vitamin C ect. but it will help me i just have to figure stuff out.. There more Questions up there! and i need some answers!

You have been doing water changes so you don't need to dose anything. So no to the Kent marine essential elements for now.

I would guess you were over feeding or over stocked, what do you think?
If I was to clean the sand I would remove all the animals from the tank and clean the sand with a siphon sand cleaner

aqua clears.. I have the biggest one( i don't even think its in the stores anymore) then the biggest one in the store then just a little one with black balls to grow good bacteria. and in the meditum one i have kinda the same thing.. something to grow good bacteria. Honestly how much would one more power head help?
