I've had a 6 gal. Eclipse Tank set up for about a year now- Freshwater. I want to convert it to a Marine tank that will house 1-2 damsels. I was thinking about what I need and This is what I got on my list-
salt mix
test kits
6 lbs. of live rock
substrate
Salinity measurer
Is there anything else I need? This would be my first marine tank, and since damsels are supposibly hardy, would this work out? I know that a big tank is recommened, but I can't afford one right now!

i disagree with tk2020 i think u have plenty of enjoyment out of it. u can put a little bio wheel filter or something, or u can just change water alot but i dont know about puttin 2 damsals if i were u i would put 1 damsel or a strawberry basslet or somethin get a mushroom coral and get either blood shrimp or hermit crab which hermit crabs are very enjjoyable creatures theyll walk around climb live rock fall to the sand they just, crawl around lookin for trouble, but i do think u should save and get a bigger tank the bigger the easier the littler your tank the more trouble just do what u want to do.

I would agree with using hermit crabs, they are great fun and will always be active! Good Luck with the tank, you will love saltwater!!!!

I have seen some very beautiful 10s, but they are alot of work for the beginner, and often fatal
The bigger the footprint(length x width), the easier, 55 through 125(rectangles) is actually the best and easiest for beginners to handle
IMO my 75 is much much much easier to take care of than my 40 ever was, now some of this is due to more expeienc, but even now the 75 is still much less aggrivation also, it takes alot mor to affect the larger tank (meaning one fish of equal size in a 55 won't through your bio system into a spin like in a 10 or smaller, you have more to "dilute it with" so to speak)also teh bigger foot print is like adding a much bigger filter cartridge, much more surface area to your bio filter
