I have been doing a bunch of research before starting my first SW tank (have had FW - nice ones with real plants and a functioning ecosystem - for years!) and wanted some opinions on a potential stocking list. I am going to set up a 55-75g tank with plenty of live rock, protein skimmer, 10K and actinic light, powerheads, etc. and was thinking of eventually having the following (obviously not all at once!):
Clean up crew:7 scarlet hermits, 13 margarita snails, 20 dwarf red tip or zebra hawaiian hermits, 4 redfoot moon algae snails or 1 abalone
1 each Button Polyp, Yellow Colony Polyp, Hairy Mushroom Coral, Bullseye Mushroom Coral, Silver Branch Pumping Xenia, Regular Pumping Xenia, White Starburst Polyps, Colony polyps
Cauliflower Colt Coral, Kenya Tree Coral, Toadstool Mushroom Leather Coral, Spaghetti Finger Leather Coral, Green Starburst Polyp
2 scarlet cleaner shrimp, 3 hawaiian feather dusters, maybe 1 brittle star
2 ocellaris clowns, 2-3 green chromis, 2 banggai cardinals, 1 flame hawk or angel, 1 hippo tang
Does this all sound reasonable or are there too many of one group and not enough of something else? I am flexible about the corals depending on what is available at the time, but I am not planning on have MH lighting so will only go for those with moderate light requirements.
One other question - I live in Arizona and I keep my house at 80F during the summer and 72-74F in the winter. Do I need an expensive chiller for the summer or can I just get a heater for the winter to bump the temp up to 77-78C?
