I have just started my tank 3 wks ago, 46 bow front with 30lbs. live rock and 25lbs. live sand. So far I have 2 emerald crabs, a serpent star, a royal gamma, some torpedo snails, a marroon clown, and a sally light-foot crab. My temp. is at 82. When I put in my live rock it came with , what looks like, some kind of small anemone, orange in color, with small tenticles on the outer parts. I'm not sure what to feed it, although it will take a guppy. Does anyone have any idea? Also am I putting to much in to fast?

If it will take, and eat a small guppy, then it should do fine on them for now.Although SEAfood would be better for it.(fresh shrimp, silversides)But then again, are you sure you want this in your tank???It may be an APTAISIA anemone. If so,these will quickly multiply and take over your tank. You should keep a close eye on this guy,and watch for any more...As for going too fast,It sounds like you ARE.A tank as young as yours has a very unstable biosystem. This can quickly, and easily get thrown out of balance and cause your entire setup to crash.Or recycle, that would not do your inverts much good...You should sit back and enjoy what you have in there now for a couple months. This will give your tank a chance to establish itself a bit more before you add anything else...

yep,to all
ESPECIALLY, SLOW DOWN

you should probably, not eveen have any livestock, or may be 1-2 critters by now(cycling, itself normally takes longer tthan this, normally), your system has to catch up befor you add livestock, each time you add, let it catch up otherwise you could be asking for a CRASH, and they aren't fun(they are depressing, especially after you realize that it could have been easily prevented)

Thanks for the info.. I figured as much, about going to fast. I have had alot of time dealing with freshwater and work at a LFS, we are just getting started in salt and have alot to learn! Someone suggested that because this tank was an existing FW that it would help.? About Feeding what do you suggest, once or twice a day?, and what is best to feed? Also how much of a water change is best?
