just set-up a new 55gal saltwater tank using a 50gal fiter how long before the tank starts to clear up been 24hrs

of what? of sand? what else is in there?

If you're talking about the sand, it took mine 3 or 4 days. Do not run your filtration system during this time, I did and ended up having to take the whole thing apart to clean all of the sand out of it. Pain in the ......

the salt must be the one clouding up the tank when I set it up the salt was lying at the bottom of the tank so i stirred it up so there wouldnt be piles of it at the bottom thanks :needhelp:

yes, this is true about turning off your filter. if there is a lot of sand it will also wear down the motor until it wont work too well. And those little parts are expensive to replace.

if you have any powerheads they'll help to get the salt mixed up well
