New tank

I am in the process of setting up a 75 gal tank that will be a reef tank. I plan to use a @2" ls and @100# lr. I will also have a 30 gal refugium with a dsb and some lr. My lfs suggests that I mix oolite and cc for the substrate at a ratio of 15:1. Any comments on this setup?

Well, you'll be running the best of both worlds with the DSB in the refugium. As for the CC and LS idea, people have mixed the two, but I don't belive you should. With the DSB in the refugium, you wouldn't need alot of sand in the main tank-like you said maybe 2". This will provide the filtration that you want. CC and LS don't mix in my book. HTH--Bob

The only gravel I recommend is Seaflor special reef grade aragonite, It has the best composition for snad beds.

The only sand the lfs carries is made by CaribSea called Aragamax (sugar-sized argonite oolite). Has anyone had any experience with this product?

That is what I used on my 33gal. I love the stuff! Don't worry about the cloudiness-it will settle in a day or two. You will be pleased with that product and I recommend it. HTH--Bob
