After having a few questions on live rock and lighting answered on this board I've come up with a plan for my new SW tank. If anyone could please tell me if this is a good idea or not:
44gal pentagon style corner tank
Southdown play sand – 88lbs seeded w/ approx 10lbs live sand
Figi Live Rock – 50lbs
2 14” ‘nano-ballast’ Retrofit kits w/ 1 10k and 1 7,100k
http://www.hellolights.com/14nanretkit.html
total of 56 watts - this is a fish only tank. I currently have two regualr flo hoods with a total of 30w and have heard that this will not keep the live rock alive... is this true? I would love to save the $170 for these lights... but I think I already know the answer...
two 350 gph UG powerheads from old tank, can I still use these?
(i am not going to use an UG filter)
Fluval 204 canister filter from old tank, can I still use this?
Have a SeaClone protien skimmer from friend, I am going to use this
any recomendations on the equipment (I know some peoples objections to the SeaClone, but I can't shell out the cash for anything else).
Thanks for all the great help so far in helping with my plan... hopefully soon I will have the money to do it!
