I have just satrted a fish only tank. I 've had itrunningfor a couple of months now. I had two blue damsels to help cycle the tank. I just purchased two dominoe damsels and a skunk clown ans want to add a royal grammar.
I have a 29 gallon tank. Can I have that many fish and am I liking to incur any problems? Also as far as lighting goes the oringnal two blue damsels allows preferred the light on at all times when the light is turned off they become very stressful any suggestions?

About the types fo fishes:
U really need to re-consider getting all those damsels in that small tank. when they grow up they r very territorial and will kill each other (the dominoes will do the killing.) keep the blue damsels and skunk clown, buy the royal gramma, but I would take back the dominoes unless u are planning to uprade in size very soon.

Thank You fishgirl:
Just one thing suppose the pest store won't take back the dominoe fish. How long can I keep them without having problems? What size tank would you reccommend that I upgrade to?

Fish can get VERY stressed with sudden changes in lighting. Like in the morning when the bright tank lights suddenly go on, or in the evening when you have all your house lights off and then the tank lights suddenly go off. Many aquarist solve this problem with specialized lighing setups and the use of timers so that all the light in the tank does not suddently go on or off. My solution is that I allow natural light to filter in from outdoors in the morning, so they are fully awake and knowing its "wakeup" time before lights go on . Then in the evening, I have overhead halogen track lights that can be dimmed. Thus, when its close to time for the tank lights to go off, I turn these overhead lights on, and then will dim them slowly down til I can turn them off. When the fish see the tank lights go off, they still have halogen light above [which is not as intense as their tank lights] but they know its getting close to time to go to bed. By the time I "dim" my way down to "lights completely off" they are all comfortably setteled in for the night

upgrade to a 55, or else when they start loosing their white spots, and the black turns kinda brown, they are no longer juvinles, and will be very aggressive to each other. (i have one in this stage right now that i am thinking about taking back to the lfs) hope you have luck.
