New to hobby- fish types?

I am new to the marine aquarium hobby, and I'm trying to set up a new tank. I've got a 65 gallon (4 ft) tank, and I'm interested in aggressive fish (particularly triggerfish), mainly because of their hardiness. I've also kept freshwater oscars and arawanas before, so I guess it's natural that I gravitate to aggressive saltwater. I've got a number of very experienced saltwater people helping me out with the hardware, water, lighting, etc, so I'm pretty confident in that department. However, I've also heard a variety of opinions on triggers (and other aggressive species), so I figured I'd see if anyone else had an opinion on species for a tank this size. Thanks in advance!!!

Congratulations on starting up your marine tank! The only problem with triggers in a 65g, is they will really limit what other species you can keep with them. Some possible trigger species to look into are niger, humu, rectangular, pink tail, and blue jaw. I would avoid clowns, queens, and undulates due to size and/or extreme agressive nature. Also, putting two triggers together most likely won't work out in the long run. As for other tankmates, i recommend some species of eel. Possibly a snowflake or goldentail moray.
good luck to you, and keep us posted on your decision!

I THINK YOU SHOULD USE YOUR SEARCH FEATURE AT THE TOP RIGHT HAND CORNER. SEARCH "TRIGGERS" YOU'LL GET MORE THAN ENOUGH INFO ON THESE GREAT FISH. BECAUSE YOU NEED SPACE FOR THESE FISH THAT GROW AT A RAPID PACE.

what are the dimensions of a 65? if you want a trigger really bad, i would go with a very mild species that gets no larger than 8". heres what id do though, a dwarf lion, eel, and either a hamlet of some sort or a hog. you could also look into some species of puffers such as valinitini, sharpnose, and other tobys. bo

I guess the popular opinion is to avoid putting more than one trigger in a tank of this size. My other preferences include the harlequin tusk, damsels, some type of lionfish, and possibly a puffer(porcupine?). Would a small humu fit in with this crowd? Any advise on which of these go together?
