New to ref's

Hi all.
I've been lurking around here for a week or so.... :jumping:
I've been reading a lot about refugiums on the board.
(When I stopped the hobby, many,many, years ago. Ref's were the newest thing)
I've noticed that there is a lot about design, usage, and matainence.
But I was wondering what people are putting into it?
I've seen:
Chaeto
Calurpea
Live sand
and live rock
Anything else?
Shrimp?
Snails?
Fish?
Plastic Armymen? (J/K)

a refugium is typically just aplace for pods and macro algaes to grow. a safe haven. You can put anything in there you wish though fish will eat pods crabs the same. snails will help keep things clean though.
bascially you want to keep it a safe haven for the critters or it just becomes a tank attached to the main tank.
