I bought my very first RO unit...instructions were hard to understand, i never do good with those things and some fellow hobboyist made it seem like all you have to do is get water flowing through and it works...
well I have it hooked up my sink and I just hold the incoming water line( i know, I will hook it up but I just wanted to test it out).
So I hold the incoming water hose there and it feels up, then wants to spit it right back out from where the water came from..
im confused......

RO units require significant pressure to operate... usually at least 45psi. Simply filling the incoming line by pouring water into it will yield no results. You need to hook it up to a pressurized water line.

Is it one of the kind with the spout attachment on the end of the spigot? If so, does it have 2 lines to the spout? If it has 2 lines, then it should have a lever or push-button on the spout that controls whether the water is flowing through the filter or out the faucet. The return line would drain back out the spout on the end of the spigot.
The countertop unit on this one has the best eample of what I'm trying to explain:

SCSI is right on....You will never get anything to come out of the other end this way. It's not like a large hose where eventually it will make it's way thru, if you hold it just right. Your unit requires that you hook it up and use the pressure to force the water thru the filters.

so if I seal it all up and turn the sink on full blast...would that be enough?
should I turn on both hot and cold?
I have an adaptor for the sink so you could hook up a hose and then I got the hose adaptor and when it comes through that little hole it seems to have a good amount of pressure.

Assuming you have decent pressure on your house lines, yes, hook it up and you should start getting water within a couple minutes. Just turn on the cold.

thanks for the help...
I just went to home depot and got the fitting I need to actually hook it up to the adaptor instead of holding on to it with my hand.
If I run into anymore problems Ill be back! haha hopefully i wont.
thanks
