New to the forum and a new tank ^^

Hello, I am new to this forum i just thought id introduce myself and my tank.
Im American currently living in china. I dont know if any of you have had any experience with aquariuming in other countries but i decided to have a try durring the summer.
here is my tank,

its a little over 55 gallon, like 63 or something but its strangely shaped, its japanese i think imported to china.
the lighting has the blue(actinic) white(normal) and red kind, all high powered floresent, also japanese. but im not sure what it would be in american watts. its pretty bright though.
the filter is a canister filter, with the mesh filter, then the charcoal stuff and a bacteria harboring area in 3 layers, i think pretty much the same as western stuff. it is also japanese it sits under the tank in the cabinate stand thing

the heater is just a basic stick thing like everybody has. heats up to 45 degrees celcius.
I personally wanted very fine sand because i like the look of a few rocks in a field of white sand. i found most chinese salt water aquarists only use crushed coral, and not well crushed, about 3cm chunks but finally i was able to track down a nice grain of sand with some finely crushed coral in it.
the rock is a live rock i got the guy at the aquarium store to sell me. live rock in china is rare and good pieces are highly contested. he wanted me to use some bacteria in a bottle stuff to start the cycle but i persisted in telling him i want to do it as naturally as possible,
strange note, in china LFS owners are called "fish friends"
finally the animals
first thing i got was a percula clown fish and a bubble tip anemone (in chinese called a niple anemone) and i got a blue damsel (little blue fish)

(can somebody please tell me if the anemone looks healthy? it seems to me like its fine but im not experienced in anemones)
i am letting those settle in then later im hoping to buy something like a tang or something. the choices here are really limited.
but the price, thats what makes me feel good when i look at the tank..
in total for everything(everything as in tank lights sand fish everything everything!) i spent less than 200 US dollars and everything is brand new in box.
the individual prices
tank+stand with cover and empty light fixtures 90 dollars
sand - 25 dollars (i thought was too expensive)
a 15 pound live rock - 2 dollars
HO florescent light bulbs(white blue and red) - 13 dollars for 3
canister filter with all tubing - 30 dollars
bubble tip anemone - 2 dollars
damelfish - 2 dollars (the most not worth the price fish i ever bought)
percula - 2 dollars
anybody have comments or suggestions especially advice about if my anemone looks healthy id apprieciate it,
thanks :)

WELCOME TO SWF...Nice tank...how long has it been set up? What type of lighting is that? Right now anemone looks ok, but depending on the lighting..welll....we will have to see
So Live rock is hard to come by???? I would definitely try to get more
I would add a solid black or blue background
Also you need some powerheads to move the water
Also you need some clean up cres (snails) if you want to keep your sand clean
I'm afraid though that the tank may be TOO new for the anemone...

the tank has been set up for a few weeks and i added the clown and the anemone a few days ago. the lighting is kind of confusing, it must be at least 100 watts though, but i really have no idea. its bright enough to really get the anemones attention when i turn it on in the morning. he opens right up. my lighting is the same kind that the chinese LFS are using and theyre raising all kinds of amazing corals, some that i havent seen before in the US. so i guess it must be ok.... and i doubt i can be able to find any snails, the only cleaner type thing ive seen is the cleaner shrimp. oh and water movement isnt a problem, the filter exhaust has a horizontal tube with many holes in it, it can move the water really fast and create a circular curent in the whole tank. ive turned it down now to low because the fish cant keep up with the fast current easily.

WELCOME!
What you have is a flow bar...pretty cool turned sideways like that. You need lots more rock...I don't know about the lights. However florescent lighting isn't usually strong enough for an anemone (here is America anyway)...I read somewhere that Japanese have a problem with MH lighting..hard to get or something like that...so they may have developed an alternative.

The damsel is an evil mean fish...it will kill every fish you put into the tank until only it remains. So get rid of it now if you ever want anything else. I see 1 clown fish..get another so it has company...most people keep them in pairs.
If you can get more rock...you can have soft corals for sure.

ok i will try to get another clown soon, the lighting i think theres not much alternative, people raising salt water fish here are few, and everybody uses this lighting system, the cover is modified to add extra light fixtures ive never seen MH lighting for sale here or really any other kind. , but what is the redish light for? is that a nescesary light for corals and anemones?

i got another clown fish to accompany the first one,, and some more live rock, one piece had some nice green mushroom things on it.

the clowns always stay close to eachother, the damsel fish sometimes swims with them too.
