I've stalked the boards for years and finally decided to join! I had my tank setup for 4 years and sadly had to take it down. I'm now settled an able to set it up again, its been about 5 weeks and all cycled. Heres a few pic of the old tank enjoy!

Well...Welcome to the site since we have not had a chance to talk until now. Such a beautiful tank, why so shy?
What are your plans for the new tank? Tells us all about the size and equipment and take some pictures of it as it matures. Its always great to look at the beginnigs of a tank and see the changes over time.

I dont know why I never joined before I should have but just never did.
The new tank ia the same one its a 29 gallon nano, just the stock lighting an everything I never upgraded any of its features.
I'll probley end up doing something similar in the new setup just soft corals an some easy to care for fish, I was very happy with the way my old tank turned out it was simple an beautiful in my eyes.
I'll get a pic of it sometime today right now theres some hermit crabs, snails, aand I just added an arrow crab.

Its jsut the stock lighting, I wouldn't mind upgrading I never got around to it last time the tank was set up, Honestly I didnt feel like the tank needed it. I was very happy with the way everything was and never had any problems when it came to the lighting. Then again I never had any coral in my tank that were overly complex.
Yesterday when I got home from work I had a scare, 20 percent of the water was on the floor, turnned out the tube connecting to the power head came loose some how and was shooting water everywhere. The only thing in the tank right now are some mushrooms, a couple daisys, a kenya tree frag, an arrow crab, an other inverts, everything seems to be doing good so heres hoping!
I'll get some pics up here soon gonna wait for the dust to settle.

The T5HO lighting is inexpensive, it blows the standard lights away on how nice it makes the tank look. I went with the linkable lights so I could upgrade if I wanted to. I only have 1 over the 56g tank, but I linked all 3 over the 90g...very nice.

How would I go about putting the T5HO lights on a 29 gallon nano? I prefer having the lid because I have a cat and his hair tends to get in it if the lid isn't down. Is there a website I could get them from or do most fish stores carry that?

I made a mesh top for my 90g. I got some stretchy mesh from e-Bay and sewed an elastic band (by hand) it will allow the tank to breath and keep the critters and their hair out of the tank. You could make one of those real easy. Just go to e-bay and search "new white big holed stretch mesh fabric
" it will come right up. $3.99 + $4.99 shipping...keep looking for that material and you might even find it with no shipping...I did but a quick search brought up that one to show you. You really NEED an open top. Saltwater does not have as much oxygen as freshwater, so you really need the gas exchange. I hung my T5HO lights, they have legs too and it would go right over the mesh, they don't give off heat.

I never had an issue with my tank all the years it was set up. I wouldn't mind a light upgrade as long as its easy enough for me to do myself I'd definetly give it a go messing around with attachments and stuff like that makes me nervous I always feel like I'm gonna screw it up or not do it right and its all gonna come crashing down! Lol

The linkable T5s???...you just plug it in like any other light and your good to go. The legs are easy to attach...it takes a little screw you tighten in place. Believe me, I am the most inept person, and I could even do the link up, adding three and making it into one unit. No splicing wires or anything, just run the cord along the side and re-attach the cap. The price was right too.

Ok I'll def have to check it out that doesn't sound complicated at all. I see all these special made hoods and everything for tanks. It looks amazing but not something I could pull off.

Oh I know what you mean...I wish I was that handy, some of the builds on this site are just breathtaking. The linkable units are super easy, and in a good price range.
They do have some awesome new hoods for 10 and 20g tanks, but they are more geared toward freshwater. The biocubes are the exception. A 29g biocube is totally enclosed...I can't figure how but they do fine for saltwater when the other hoods don't. I am seriously considering buying myself a biocube for my Birthday....That's why I was thinking about dwarf seahorses, but they need live food and if I land up down in my back again, or in the hospital nobody would be able to care for them. The other seahorses get fed just like regular fish....that, my daughter and mother can handle.
