My wife and I are new to the hobby of salt water aquarium's. We went to a local dealer here in Houston, TX and basically told him what we were looking to do. He sold us a 45 gallon tank, a Fluval 306 filter, Corallife dual t5 light, and live sand. He explained the cycling process to us and after reading figured out we were at least doing the prep work correctly. Our questions include, with this set up that we have, will we be able to have live coral? Do we need a hang over protein skimmer? How soon can we add damsel fish to help the bio start up? Whats the correct temperature to have our water for angel fish, clown fish, and live coral? Thanks for any advice in advance.

Do we need a hang over protein skimmer? Yes How soon can we add damsel fish to help the bio start up? do not add them unless you like them in your tank (add fish after initial cycle is complete). Use a raw shrimp in a nylon bag for couple of days then pull it out. Whats the correct temperature to have our water for angel fish, clown fish, and live coral? Temp, is between 78 - 82 Thanks for any advice in advance.
