yeah my ballast came while I was out of town all nice new and shiny. I can now begin assembly of my lighting system for my frag tank.

and here is the bloody mess of wires and parts salvaged from a local maine reefer who obviously hated DIY stuff. I am going to cobble together 2 seperate pulley actuated (raise and lower) pendants for over my frag tanks, so I can adjust the height of the lights over the tanks.

What kind of lights are those? T-5s? PCs?

the new ballast was $124 and change.
the parts were $125 for the 12 water tight t-12 caps, 15 used bulbs, 10 new bulbs, a couple reflectors, loads of wire some good some not, blown icecap 660 ballast (will get it fixed eventually), and the crappy DIY canopy. the new bulbs alone are worth more than $125 so it was a pretty good deal.

I'm probably going to bend my own reflectors for the bulbs, but the reflectors are kind of superflous as the bulbs are self reflected, but it should help return light reflected off the waters surface back to the tank.

Yup, I'm making a multiple tier (basicly three tanks) in one stand for growing frags, to reduce clutter in my DT, and so i can grow out more frags I'm am sick of having to make my DT look like crap because I have 400 frags kicking around, I lose frags behind the rock work and such.
the original (blown) ballast that came with the parts was supposed to be a working unit. oh well karma is a mother.

yeah I will once there is progress to show. this is going to be a slow build. i've been saving up for bits and pieces here and there. I have most of what I need but there are a few essentials I am still lacking. in a couple weeks I'll probably sell a few more frags to pick up the stuff I need to buy new and cant wheel and deal for.

and of course I need to figure out where the tank is going and design it to fit in the space my fiancee allows me to use for it.
