ok...cycling for 8 days
water before LR
PH - 8 Amonia - 0 Nitrite - 0
5 days after LR
PH - 7.7 Amonia - 3 Nitrite - 1.6
8 days after LR
PH 7.7 Amonia 0 Nitrite - 3.3
I am concerned about the Nitrite up...what do I do?
I am needing to know when I can go get a few snails and possible some hermits to start cleaning the alage up.
thanks
p.s. SG is 1.023

SG - Could be a little higher. If you are going to have a reef you may want to up it to 1.024 - 1.025

pHis LOW!!! - should be around 8.3 or a tad lower. also the SG is low.. should be around 1.025 - best for inverts and corals!
definately wait a week after nitrites drop to 0.. do water changes after that to bring nitrates down...

While you are cycling I wouldnt worry about the ph. Whats more important is how stable the ph is. I ran my first tank that was a FOWLR and my ph was 7.8 all the time. If your ph is driffing then theres concern, but if its staying the same then dont worry. I wouldnt add anything to your water until you are 100% done with the cycle. Iam not huge on knowledge on alk and calcium but i do know they go hand in hand. If your calcium is that high then I bet your alk is very low. I wouldnt worry right now. wait until your cycle is done. Then test your water and then we can go from there. HTH
