well...I'd have to recommend a bunch of them, and for different reasons. There is Fishtown USA in Flushing, which has GREAT stock, but lousy prices. There is Parrots of the World in Rockville Centre with awesome stock, and HORRIBLE prices. There is Total Aquariums in Lynbrook with good stock and lousy prices. I also haunt a place in Lawrence called Petworks, but only on the days they get fish in...every other Tuesday. If it buy anything there I take it from the shipper's bag, never touching their tanks. Their prices are lousy too. Hmm, I also go to Reefs and rivers in Mineola, AWESOME stock, horrible prices. Getting the picture? I visit most of these stores once a week to go browsing, but I pretty much buy everything online. Hope this helps.

Its a common thing to think its strange for these animals to be shipped, but you get over it real quick! I have ordered from here, and 3 other sites as well. If you think about it, the fish have been through it before, they are shipped from distributers to wholesalers to stores in boxes before.
They ship you the fish in bags just like you get from the LFS, in a styrofoam cooler with padding. I have NEVER ever had a dead fish arrive. Not only are the prices better, but most of the online sites offer a guarantee on the fish, which you can NEVER get locally. One more place I forgot to mention with awesome stock and (once again) terrible prices is BTJ's Jungle, in West Islip.

i am from long island but i havent found any good stores yet there is a store near me that sells saltwater fish but it is lame they have olny one 30 gal tank and they mostly sell damisels but everyonce in a while they get sea horses ,mandrians,and yellow tangs and not olny do they not know what to feed them they put them all in one tank so the sea horses get attacked by the damisels all the time but i have found that some petcos are good i saw one that kept there tanks clean they knew about the fish no sighns of disease and there prices where great i forgot where it is i will try to find it again

heres the scoop for all you long island fishaholics. South shore tropicals in lindenhurst. Ive been going here for over 2 years now. great prices decent stock great service. If you go there ask for anthony or james and tell them Dave from Cablevision sent ya and they may hook you up. its on Montauk hwy in lindenhurst in a king kullen shopping center set back across from Kmart. if you need a store out east Auqa Hut in Coram on the corner of middle counrty road and RT112(homedepot shopping center) Excellent stock good prices, service could be better. Great stock though. Country critters in Patchogue is not bad but these two places are 2 of the best on the island in my opinon. Hope that helped.

No, its on sunrise hwy just before 5th ave exit heading east, right ater GMC truck lot. Also there is a brand new store on main st. in bay shore called Fishy inc. Also there is a guy in Lindenhurst who can get anything you need at excellent prices, like turbo snails for .50 -.75, xenia for $8, any type of fish ect. I live in w. bayblon, would be interested in meeting up.
