Depends how much money you have.
If you have enough money to buy at least 1 and 1/2 lbs of LR per gallon you dont need anything else except a protein skimmer. I personally wouldnt go above 2 lbs of LR per gallon.
If you want to go cheaper I like whisper filters. They are like penguins without the bio-wheel (which is preety much just a marketing tool IMO. Whispers have a black or blue pad behind the white bag with your carbon to serve as a bio filter. Thats what I use untill I can get enough LR to go mechanical filterless which again IMO is the best route.

the best filtration, for any tank, IMO is a good bio filter, i really like the use of lr, a deep sand bed and a protien skimmer, i personally dont' believe you can do any better, except if you have a really aggresive set up(like a shark tank, then i would get soething more aggressive), but using the things i mentioned, does very well for almost any type of fish, and even though it seems very unlikely, that is an outstanding set up and very efficient, when combined with good circulation(but it can be slightly costly)
HTH and good luck
ps, WELCOME TO A GREAT BOARD AND AN EVEN BETTER ADDICTION
