Newbie Has Protein Skimmer Question

I am new to this hobby and need some advise, I have recently cycled a 75 gal tank with 100 # lr and a 3 in. ls bed. I have a wet/dry filter and want to install a protein skimmer. My question is, where do I place the skimmer? Do I place the skimmer between the overflow box and the filter inlet, or do I place it in the resivoir after the water is filtered and before it returns to the tank ? I want it under the stand so that it is out of sight.
I am sure this is common knowledge to all present, but I remain confused. Please advise.

This really depends on what skimmer you end up buying.Some are designed to sit directly in the sump,others can be placed beside the sump.I like the latter models myself.Mine is actually on the floor next too the tank.I figured,I spent so much money on it,why hide it....
