ok so i started my first saltwater 20gLong a lil while back and just recently was given another one. I plan on buying a 55 gallon tank and wanted 2 know what you think i should do with the 2 old tanks? I was thinking of building a sump/fuge or trying to connect the tank with an acrylic tube or pipe if that exists... if anyone knows where I can find good plans on how to build a sump I would appreciate it. I understand the basic working of sump but have no idea how connect tubes and ish.... Plus is it possible to cut a circle into glass tank? I'm sure you all have seen those tanks with 2 connected, that is what i am trying to do. Thanks for any help I appreciate it!
O right now i only have 4 damsels 4 inches of LS and 30 lbs of LR and a small lion fish that I AM moving so no worries he will have a new home in a week.....
o crap one more thing, want a new light system to maybe grow corals in the other 20 if i do build a sump/fuge what would be a good and cheap light system since i am a college student
thanks guys i know my questions have probally been asked 10000000 times but i have no idea what im doing and really want to learn!!!

search through these threads, and most of your answers will get answred. You can take your tanks to an Aquarium shop and they should be able to drill the holes for you. CALL AHEAD. It wont be cheap to do, and it is always kinda sketchy when you try to make your seams that need to be water tight. Cheap lights, no such thing. You get what you pay for. Type Sump design into the search feature here at SWF. Or buy a one of many GREAT books. The Conscientious Marine Aquarist is a great one that has that kind of info in it. Natural Reef Aquariums is another great book. Check the public Library if you dont want to spend 40 to 60 bux on a book. But they are worth every penny. Look up anthing by Fenner, Calfo, Borneman, and I am forgetting somebody. I am sure someone else will remember for me. Good luck, keep us posted, and maybe pics.
