thats a nice naso, but its recomended that tangs have a 75 or larger, just for swimmign space,so he may real soon outgrow that tank

Very nice pic, but like fishman was getting at, that tang will get uncomfortable (if he's not already) in a tank that small.
Welcome to the boards! :)

That particular Tang would be expected to live at least 30 years in the wild. It's still a baby.

When you put a fish in a large tank it has the full extent to grow to full size. When it is in a small tank it is stressed in a way so that the growth is slower or sometimes not at all.

thanx for all the advise.i did here about the prolonging of growth in smaller tanks.we dont have any plans in the near future to put anything in it.like i said we are real new at this and still in the learning stage. as for the filtration....you got me! the guy came by and put it all together before i could see what it really is.i just have to find a way to climb behind it and see. there are no names on the sides or top of it.maybe on the bottom of it? we stocked up on seaweed a few weeks ago.we are also thinking of going to ls instead of the crushed coral (yuk!) and people....you wont scare this newbie away...i have alot to learn and thats why im here!;) we also put a blue backing on the back,so when i get the ole man to take a new picture, ill send it in.maybe after ls.again thanx for all the imput. p.s a dumb newbie ? how do you get an accurate measurement of the fish?may sound stupid, but its not like he stays still long enough! but hey, ill try...my guess is 7 inches too! mouse

Hey that Naso Tang could be the poster fish for Naso's. Great looking fish! Take good care of it. Seems as if you'd have no problem getting rid of it if it out grows you.
Welcome, this is a great place to hang and learn. Great bunch of people with the same goals in mind.

toddpolish...just a ? where do you get all your supplies? your the only one who lives anywhere near me.i live in laconia and the lps here is pretty small and expensive beyond reason.i did try seaworld in salem nh but i didnt like the idea of seeing 6-7 dead fish floating in tanks.so that pretty much made me boycott them.and *****....we all know about that place. does anyone know where i can get a 90 or 100 gal. tank? and approx. price range? just want to say thanx to everyone.its great to be here.

mouse,
I used to go to sea world to get my fish too, but about 4 weeks ago I went there and there were dead fish in a bunch of tanks. I felt the same way u did. I was disgusted and vowed never to return. It's really too bad, cause I've gone there a lot and I think the main problem is that besides Chris (and maybe Roger) I don't think that the employees there care that much about the fish. I can understand that they get a bad shipment of fish, but why put them on display and then leave the dead (or dying) fish in there? Potentially causes an ammonia spike which puts the healthy fish at risk. That's what I have the problem with. If I ever do go back there, I'm saying something to someone.
There are other LFS around the area, but not sure how many of them are close to you. There is one close to Sea World, called Aqua Addicts. I've only been there once, and he was pretty much out of all his livestock at the time ( I guess it goes fast ). But from what I've read on another board, it's a pretty good place. I think they get their shipments in on Tuesdays.
Have you been to Tropic Isle in Framingham?
I buy all my equipment online. And I've gotten one fish online. Have you thought about doing that? People here say great things about the fish/corals/lr from SWF.com.
post your email and I will send you some more info that may be helpful to u.
