Hi everyone. I'd like to start up a 75-gallon reef tank. I've had a freshwater tank in the past, and have a strong science background and I'm a patient perfectionist...oh and a certified scuba diver....lololol....just wondered if there's any pitfalls I should watch out for in the beginning....After reading a few posts, don't think I'll be introducing any damsels...lolololol....Thanx!!!!

hi there,
i'm a newbee myself and from my first experiences i've learned not to rush into it and i'm a certified scuba diver as well...
start by putting some fresh water fish i.e.black mollies: cheap, though and will eventually start up your cycle i also added some instant bacteria in powder form had a bit of trouble in the bigining due to my inpatience however i have a very nice 75 gal myself. invest well in your equipement like skimmer filter and lights. best of luck.

YES I have put MOLLIES into my tank I slowly adapted them (they are from a brackish water anyway)or getting a few chromis will help they are cheap and friendly(not to agressive) also be prepared for the costs...it can get pretty expensive and you need lots of time for waiting ...you cannot rush it...GOOD LUCK...also read books on it
