Just wanted to post and say I am glad I found this site. I am in the first stages of putting together a SW tank. I have had a 200G tank in storage for 3 years and have slowly picked up new items for it....The wife does not like the length(84"), so I am planning a tank that is 60x24x36 in glass(wife accepted). I have my wet/dry system designed for 150 gallons, UV sterilizer, pump, powerheads, Motorola ballasts and 5 different lights with hardware. I am planning a reef tank and still looking into the other items I am going to need as my project gets closer to water filling.....
I will keep on browsing this area and appreciate the good info I am picking up. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.
Thanks for a great forum

welcome to the board. its alot easier to help someone out when they come here before they set up the tank. you will save yourself alot of headache that way. as for the tank setup i recommend you do some searches on dsb's, lighting and refugiums. they are just a couple of things that are easier to do before you put water in the tank. spend some time comparing prices on live rock may help too. your going to need a lot of it so finding it for even $.50 a lb cheaper will help. good luck

Redcorsair,
I was curious on the UV, I got most of the parts in a deal from a LFS that was having an out of business sale. Everything I got was around 100 Dollars, excluding the tank, it was traded for a used computer from a freshwater fish breeder that went up in size. I figured I could plumb it in to only run if I had a problem in my tank instead of all the time. I will get my stuff out later and let you guys now exactly what all I have.
Thanks again

1-Customsealife, Inc U2 15Watt double pass UV sterilizer
1-Sacem Galaxie 1000l/h Pump
2 Motorola Rapid Start Ballasts Model M3-RN-T12-1LL-120
8-MORE Light Caps and hangers
1-Coralife 10,000K
1-Coralife 50/50 50% 6000K Daylight, 50% Actinic 03 Blue
1-Coralife 20,000K
1-Coralife 100% Actinic 03 Blue
1-MORE Rid Volt Titanium Grounding Probe
I will definately need help on the lighting system
I will need a protein skimmer also.
If I goahead with the 36 tall tank I will go with a deep bed of sand and possibly put the plenum under it like GARF uses.
I am really wanting a reef system with a few fish and anenomes.

do not use the plenum with the dsb. i believe that combo has a higher rish of releasing hydrogen sulfide (?) gas into the aquarium.
