first buy some rubbermaid totes from WalMart. Probably a 2 10 gal and a 5 gallon bucket. Put some of your tank water in the 1st 10 gal. and grab all your LR out of the 30 gal.
Next fill up our next 10 Gal, and put all your live stock. I would place your filter in this tote. Then I would Start to transfer some of your old tank water to your new tank. About half, then start scooping out your substrate. If you have new substrate put the new stuff in first and then layer the old stuff on top. Then finish putting your old tank water into your new tank. Put all your LR in and the water. Once you have all the water in the new tank, you may have to add some new water that you will have circulating for 24 hrs. (8 hrs.will be good)prior to your transfer. Finish topping off your water and let the sand settle a bit before adding your live stock. Once the tank is clear, check your params and if they check out put your LS in the tank.
Hope this helps
Good Luck
