This weekend Im going to a new lfs that Ive been recommended to go to. They have a wide vareity of coral and frags. I called them yesterday to see if they had any trachyphyllia and they have about 6. All around $69. I was going to ask them some more prices, but the guy told me they have over 300 different varieties of coral. So Im thinking anything I want, they have.
What do you think it should be? Right now what I want consists of: Open Brain, Bubble Coral, Torch Coral, Elegance Coral, or maybe an Aussie Acan. What do you think?

Aussie acan AUSSIE ACAN!!!. IMO (depending on morph) one of the most colorful corals you can get. And depending on the color they can cost quite a bit. But then fraggin them later to support your tank would be most beneficial. Also cuz they are one of my favorite corals too...

You make good points. Price does come into play, but then again with me fragging the Aussie I would be getting the money back, plus more. Now I think its between the Aussie Acan, and the Open Brain.

Ehh maybe, probably not. But which ever coral I dont get this time, I will be getting the next time. I guess it depends on what color varieties they have.
With good conditions, how fast would each coral grow compared to each other?

The bubble and torch are both low/no maintenance, as long as the tank is well kept. I do not spot feed either and they are thriving. But I do have to agree... the acans have some amazing colors to them and are more condusive to fragging.

I actually really like spot feeding, and I think getting a strong feeding response from an open brain or an aussie acan would be awesome. But I dont know I usually go to an lfs with what I want in mind, and come home with something completly different. Im going tomorrow so I will let you guys know.

What kind of lighting do you have? I'm partial to brains myself but honestly if they are $70 for a trachy, aussie acans are going to be a lot of $$$$ I'd bet. I like green bubble corals a lot too.

I have nova extreme T5 lighting. The thing about this lfs is I guess they sell a lot of frags too. So if I didnt want to pay for an acan that was pretty big, there may be a chance that they have an acan frag.

Alright so I got a small open brain. They had some aussie acans but those were $300. I got the open brain for about $45. I just dont know if this guy is a trachy or what. What do you guys think? This is him in the bag, temp acclimating.
EDIT: More pics.
