Niger Trigger in a Reef?

Someone told me that Niger trigers can be kept in a reef. They dont harm corals and will only eat small shrimp and posibly try to rearrange the rockscaping. Is this true? Has anyone ever kept a trigger in a reef? At my work there is a 1 inch captive bred niger trigger and he is adorable! He is just the size fish that I am looking for for my 75gallon. (older juvenile-adult size) I dont want to have to remove him from my reef if he becomes a problem later on. Let me know your thoughts, I respect your opinions! Thanks

i wasnt aware the nigers were reef safe. the only trigger that i was aware of as being reef safe is the blue jaw trigger. iv only seen nigers in fish only setups to tell you the truth. sorry not much here, but good luck

I have heard of several that keep nigers in a reef system...they are reported to be relatively reef safe. I personally prefer not to keep one due to size issues and the potential to munch some of the crabs/snails....plus they would potentially be like a bull in a china shop...always moving LR and stuff around.

ditto...maybe in a bigger tank where the impact of crashing around wouldn't be so bad. So IMO it would be fine now but when it gets big. But if that's the main fish you want and keep corals that encrust you maynot have a problem.=harder to move lr??

I have done alot of checking on the nigers since I want one myself and I have learned that they are unpredictable( meaning some are cool and some aren't). They all have different personalities. What I would do if you really want only this fish, is find a glue/epoxy that is saltwater safe and glue the rocks together so that it will be too heavy and broad to push over. That is what my plan is.
