Try using manual focus so the autofocus doesn't get the glass. Changing the lense won't necessarily solve that problem. When taking pics of anything in my tank I always use manual.
I posted this in the diy but did not mean to. What are some good lenses for FTSs and close ups. And whats a good setting for close ups? It all ways focus on the glass.

How close to the actual tank are you when you try to take the close-ups?

pretty close cause my lense wont go that far
A Macro lense is your best bet, but even with my Nikon D40x I can get some decent shots, but I use the manual focus, tripod, AND the timer. It's amazing how much clearer they come out when I do those three simple things.
