nitrate question

I have been using the AquaLab nitrate/nitrate test strips and my nitrate levels have always been so freakin high. like 80ppm. no matter how much water i change, my levels are still high. I borrowed a test kit from a friend by "Doc Wellfish" and it reads 10ppm. which one is right? I have been trying my hardest to get my levels down, but maybe they aren't really that high. HELP ME PLEASE........

Nitrates at .80 would kill four fish. My money is on the other test kit. .10 sounds alot better. STEVE
