Nitrate test

im having probs with my Nitrate test. it keeps comming back at 160 ppm and ive done 3 water changes and still no diff. could the test be wrong?

Do you use an undergravel filter? They can keep detritus in the substrate causing high levels of nitrate no matter how many water changes you do.
Do you have crushed coral rather than a sandbed? Crushed coral can also hide fish crap and add to your nitrate level without you knowing.
Do you have any plants in the system, either in the sump, refugium, or display? Plants and macro algaes reduce your nitrate levels. Get your hands on some plants or caulerpa if you can, because they feed off of nitrates.
If you answered no, no, and then yes...your test kit might be bad.
