Is your tank cycling? If not how long has it been up and running? Also has anything died in there lately?

What kind of filter are you using? Live rock? DSB? Crushed coral? Are you using a bio-wheel? A water change will help get it down some, but you need to figure out what is causing it to get so high.
We need some specifics about your tank to help you out some more.

A little more info on the setup would help. When's the last time you did a water change? Have you tested your replacement water for nitrates? Do you use RO, or tap for top off, water changes?

How many fish do you have? I had this problem with my 55g. It was very overstocked and still is but I am switching to a 120 next week and getting rid of some more of my fish. I sold my hippo and coral beauty and cleaned out my skimmer and my trates dropped from 80 to around 30ppm.

Water changes with RO water. Will bring them down fast. But you need to find the source of the problem.
