Nitrates

SAD DAY!!!

Had my "NEMO" come up missing 2 days ago, found him today, he went to the other side

Did my weekly water checks;
PH-8.2/Ammonia-0/Nitrite-0/Nitrate-20
Could he have caused this, and how do I lower my nitrates back to zero?
Everything has been good...tank about 8 months old?

really you can never get your nitrates to 0 they will usually stay between 10-20 ppm this is perfectly normal and is actually healthy for a tank! because without nitrates algae cannot grow, however once your nitrates start to go over 25 ppm that is when they become detrimental

I'm sorry, I wasn't giving you my full attention at the beginning of this post. (bird biting my ear!)

A 25% water change will not get the nitrates down to zero and nanomantis is right you want a little nitrates as that a lot of different residents in your tank need small amounts.
My nitrates are usually between 10 and 15.
Sorry again, my parrot loves to chew my ear and its distracting me while I cruise the forums!
