Nitrites and Nitrates

I tested my water and I got:
Ammonia: 0
Nitrites: 3 ppm
and Nitrates: 20 ppm
I recently brushed off a lot off dieoff on my live rock into the water.
Could that be the problem?

My tank is almost 2 months old. Also since you said not to brush die off into my water, would a waterchange help?

The detritus (die-off)will rot, regardless of wether it is on the rock or not, I believe, so I doubt that, that is it.
Do you have a livestock list.
Is it 2 months since you finished your cycle, or 2 months since you set the tank up?
