My tank is in the 5th week of it's cycle. I already had my ammonia spike but my nitrite are still high. It's still at 2.0 ppm. Is there any way to get it down. Would live rock help? FO tank by the way

My main tank is also in it's 5th week of cycling and I have approx. 30 lbs of LR and raw shrimp in a 46g. My nitrites are still well above 2.0 and I expect it will be another couple of weeks. From what little I know Cured LR may speed your cycle. Uncured (smelly) LR will likely prolong it due another charge of ammonia. Are you using Cycle or TLC? I don't really know if it helps but I'm using it anyway.
It has been a long wait for me as well. My friends claim that I will never get fish. Women are not impressed. The LR is cool though, and now I am getting brown algae which is sort of cool.

Let the cycle run its course. It will soon be converted into nitrates. I know, the process seems to take forever, but be patient. I cannot give you a time frame because all tanks are different. HTH--Bob
