no cycle yet, whats going on

on march 31st i restarted my 20 gallon tank (due to many problems) filling it with saltwater , new filter cartrages , placeing the heater inside of the filter, putting the powerhead for the uv in the filter(the uv is off, but the power head is on)
then on april 3rd i added 6.5 pounds of live rock , a few days latter i added 6 damsels(which most of them died) left with 1 in the tank i took my yellow back damsel from my other tank and put it in this one. the next day i added about 7.5 pounds of live rock, then some more a few days latter
now in a 20 gallon tank i have 18 pounds of the stuff and 2 damsels which has been set up since march, and still my test are all PERFECT, diatoms are growing however its not a big out break
i was looking to upgrade my lighting(from 20 watts now, to 55 watts 50 % white 50% antic blue smart light) should i wait untill the cycle is over, or would the help of the lights have diatoms grow more speeding up the cycle?

I'd do the lighting change now because lighting changes often cause algea outbreakes so might as well get it over now.

id also recommend the lights now. but just so you know, diatoms do not speed up your cycle, they are the result of your cycle. diatoms feed off the nitrites, so as your nitrites spike, so do your diatoms. as your nitrites go down, so do your diatoms. so they dont help with the cycle, just an indication of it.
