No Cycle?

Is it true that when I move my 30 gallon tank's rock and sand (which has been matured and cycled for years) that the 55 gallon tank that I move it into will never cycle?
I ask this because moving day is less than a week away and I don't want to murder my corals.

Also, how exactly do I scoop the sand into the new tank without causing a sandstorm? I remember when I put the sand in the 30 when it was new, there was a sandstorm for over a week.

I did a similiar thing with moving my 55 into my 125.
No real cycle as if you keep everything under water as much as possible, nothing will die off. Test your water daily for a few weeks just in case though!
As for the sand.....no real good way of avoiding it. The best way is to get buckets of water and hold all your fish, corals and rocks in there. Use your existing tank water for corals and inverts if possible. Then drain most of your water out. HAve a few inches of water in your new tank. Scoop the sand out and place in your new tank. Then refill half way with water. Replace your rocks, and corals. Top off with new water and then add fish.
I did this and still got a minor sandstorm, but wasn't bad. I did have an extra HOT filter running (two total) and repalced the filter pads twice daily for 2 days. Everything survived just fine, including my anemone, corals, inverts and all fish

when u are addign the sand/ water in put the sand in the tanks and lay plates down were u are porign the water and do it slowelt i got a very tiny snad splash but that preatty much the best way to do it

Anytime I have disturbed a sandbed I have gone through another cycle, it is shorter but the levels still spiked.
If you can keep the sandbed in the tank and keep it from getting disturbed too much then it may not, but if you are taking the sandbed out and putting it back in the tank I would be very suprised if you don't get a spike.
