No signs of life

Good grief....I've been waiting for 2 months now for pods and other clean up critters to show up in the sand bed of my 55g sump. NOTHING, nada....just
5 dominos. which have doubled in size in the last 3 weeks
1 tiny feather duster
1 narsisus snail
and several different types of plants.
Temp: 74
Compact T5
I added frags of LR and LS from my LFS. Still nothing. I am using the artificially seeded cycled sand that I used in my pony tank...I did boil and bleach it many months ago to kill all hydroids, but it had pods in it when I put it in storage.
Tank levels have been very level too. No big spikes...just the usual tank maintenance. Beth's 2 week old tank has more pods than my 2 month old tank.
What's taking so long???

Rykna,
Have you tried artificially boosting the pod population by breeding them? I managed this pretty sucessfully, and got the population on my 110 reef booming pretty quickly. IM me if you need pointers!

Sweet, thanks for the setup info. I'll have my pod, or meth lab as my mom calls it, hatchery up and running soon

glad to be of help. But tell your mom she should be glad you're just trying to raise pods. At one point I was culturing pods in a 1 gallon betta tank, rotifers in a 500 ml beaker, and greenwater in a couple empty soda bottles. Definitely looked like a mad scientists lab!

just make sure you don't set any of it by your coffee in the wee hours of the morning. I almost had a swig of enriched mysis for breakfast.

I have never used a tank cycle booster, until now. I purchased BIO-Spira for the 55 sump. This formula contains Nitrosospira, Nitrosomonas, Nitrospira, and Nitrococcus .
