no treatment....

any of you have any success letting a parasite or disease just run its course without any treatment? I get sick sometimes (tho usually not parasites crawling in my skin! <img src="graemlins//eek.gif" border="0" alt="[eek]" /> )and usually dont take any medication, and let my own immune system do the work.
i have a yellow tang with some black spots on his forehead, and ONE white spot on his fin near the tail. I dont have a quarantine tank, and dont want to use a copper based medicine.
am i screwed, meaning the fish will just eventually die if untreated, or do i absolutely need to do something to restore him to health?

You need to do something to restore the fish to health.
While you're immune system might be able to help you thru a cold or a flu, it is not going to get your thru a boat of lice or scabbies. The reason it will not, is because lice and scabbies are skin parasities and not microrganism that effect internal body tissues. See what I mean here?
Black ick is an extenal parasite and the fish immune system is not going to do its thing on an external parasite. Within the confines of a captive aquaria a fish suffering from parasities has little to no hope wo treatment.
