nocturnal vs day feeders

How do nocturnal fish, such as the Pajama Cardinal get food if they are in a tank that is primarily daytime fish? i generally feed my percs a small amount in the morning and evening. would i have to feed these things during the night?

I have a small tank with a pajama cardinal and it feeds during the day the same times as the rest of the tank. I have seen that fish get used to having a certain time of day that they get food, so your cardinal will adjust his habits to fit into the enviroment.
I may be wrong but this is just what I've noticed in my tanks.

yeah they will know when the food is coming and wake up and eat
