Noisy Aqua C Remora

Hi was given an Aqua c Remora protein skimmer. It is noisy, hangs on the back of my tank. It also produces these micro bubbles. Is there anything I can do to stop the bubbles? If I only run it in the day and turn it off at night when I am in my bedroom will that still work or will it be harmful to the tank? Do the microbubbles harm anything? Thanks for the help.

If it is new it definitely has a break in period where it might run louder and produce quite a few bubbles. Most skimmers are like this when new. If it's not new maybe it hasn't run in a while and needs a break in. Either way, it should stop putting bubbles out within a few days or weeks.
I just added an AquaC Remora and was surprised at how quiet it was. I used to have a SeaClone. That thing was LOUD!

What kind of pump are you running it with? i also have a ACR, run with a MJ1200 and the thing sounds like a jet engine revving up lol. if you take the pump off and put in the tank and run it and its silent, its most likely vibration noise, so if you can get the pump to hang inside the tank without touching anything besides the inlet of the skimmer, it may quiet down alot. Aslo, try putting a foam block on top of the spray injector to reduce noise, i dont remember how i did it, but if you do a web search im sure you will find a thread with info on it. Happy hunting :)

Thanks for the help. I don't know what the pump is. I have it in the box inside the tank. Do you know if it is harmful to the tank and/or the remora to run it only when I am not in the room. The noise is a tick...tick....ticking.

um, im not real sure about that, because i know when the skimmers 'break in' they develop a slime coat over the surfaces in the skimmer and the pump that aid in the foaming, but im not sure. i have turned mine off for several hours during tank tear down and cleaning and then putting it back together and i didnt notice any less skimming afterwards. you might want to do a Google search on it and get a better idea.
Also, the ticking noise you hear could be the impeller of the pump hitting something, so taking it out and pulling it appart and giving it a good cleaning may do some good.
