I have a needle valve type skimmer in a sump on my recently setup 75 gal. All it had for an adustment was a ball valve that set the water level in the main body. It was really noisy and after doing a search on this forum I found a fix that said to fill a 2 liter pop bottle with cotton balls and place some airline tubing in it and the other end to the other the airline at the main body that comes from the pump. I only had a 1 liter botlle but as soon as I placed the extra tubing, approx. 2 ', it quited down considerably and with the bottle it is completely quiet. I checked to make sure this did not result in the water level climbing into the collection cup. It also appears that it is a bit more frothy in the main body. Thanks again to all you folks on this forum.
