Non-reef question

i don't know where to put this question. But the people in the reef forum here are knowledgable, and respond quickly. I have a 46 bow, reef. my glass lid crakced today. I believe the lights on it were too hot. That problem was fixed. It is a clean crack through the glass that is fully intact. What should I do until friday with the crack? Should I leave the top on, or take it off??
I don't have any "know jumper fish".
2 clowns
1 scooter
1 cc star
1 eibli angel
What would you do? I cannot get my new lid until friday. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
thanks,
Leopard

Just a thought but I lost two clown fish because they jumped. The first was about a year after the tank was set-up and the second was a few months later.

I would remove it...and not replace it. But I prefer the covers to be gone and use a enclosed canopy that pretty much keeps jumpers close to the water...they could maybe get on top of the center brace...or escape via a couple of small openings on the rear of the canopy...but so far I've no escapees.
If you insist on keeping yours I'd suggest a bead of silicone until you can replace it. At least the silicone may keep it from braking and falling into the display...if that is a concern.
I like a open top much better personally and would go that route if it were me.

By the way...I have a non reef related response also:

i have been busy. Working 40 hours a week, and going to school full time for my bsn. I still make time for my fish, but I don 't have as much time to brag about them on the site. I had some silicone, so i did that. I was going to DYI my own canopy fo the tank, but I took classes all summer, so that didn't happen. I would perferr to do the canopy route, but I cannot find one for my bowfront. If you guys know where to find one, I am open to suggestions. I have a canopy on my 180, and I love it. It looks so much nicer. My reef has grown wonderfully. I love it. I had a little red slime outbreak, and my clown fish made a hotel out of it. they were upset when I removed all of it. My tank looks great. I am hopefully going to add a mandarin in a month. I just added some new LR for a total of 90LBS.
Thanks for the help!!!! I am spontaneously on and off the site. I HOPE to be able to visit more often.
Thanks for the advice!!!!

I used to have glass tops, then switched to eggcrate and like that better. I can get the tops off easily to service the tank, and not have condensate dripping glass lids to set down somewhere. I can feed the fish thru the holes in the egg crate, and the tank gets more air, seems healthier, more pH stable.
I have clownfish and firefish (jumpers).

I have the egg crate top. I used to use it when I had NO lights. My PC's don't fit very well on it. Someday I will build a canopy, when I am not so busy.
Thanks for the opinions guys. Much appreciated!!!
