Should I be pointing the power heads towards the middle of the tank or to the side wall of the tank? And does that have anything to do with the clowns just hanging around the side of the tank cause the current is to strong for them or do they just not swim around the tank?

i seriously doubt you've got too much current
clowns tend to not swim around as much as other fish...
a couple times a day though mine will take a little journey around the tank...but spend a good portion of the day in one area of the tank

Wild clowns often spend the vast majority of their lives within a few inches of their host anemone. Getting farther from cover than that tends to be fatal for small, brightly-colored fish that don't swim that well :D
