noob asking stupid questions

i am setting up a 25 gal
other than your standard filter what should i get
i hear all this about skimmers and well what should i get :notsure:
i am planing making this a really full reef with the
yellow tang i have the percula clown i have and maybe
a nice goby

Hey there are a lot of things you need to do. First just that filter wont support a reef. Secondly a yellow tang needs a minimum of 75 gallons. If it were in a 25 gallon tank it would be very stressed out and bully every other fish. The biggest thing you should do first is research, i personally bought abuot 5 books and read them before i started. If you dont really wanna buy a book there are thousands of resourses online that tell you everything you need to know. Good luck with your tank

wow a 75 buddy my tang is really tiny my percula is bigger than him he barely makes two inches ohhh well its an upgrade so i doubt he will complain to much but basicly should i get the skimmer

If your just starting with this hobby and think that that tang will thrive in your tank. Reality is going to hurt!!!! I've been researching and I had my tank for 9 months now and I still know absolutely NOTHING about this hobby (actually I learned a lot but you get the picture). Do have Live rock? Do you know about H2O chemistry, lighting, the nitrogen cycle, the correct amount of fish and the types of fish you can have in a 25g, the amount of time and money that you'll have to put into this hobby? Just a few questions. Depending on what you want to keep in your tank depends on the skimmer situation. have you thought about a sump or fuge? The questions can go on forever....

if you keep that yellow tang in a 25g tank .... If you do he will produce too much waste for your tank too handle.. sorry but you just can't have it
