Three ship captains from Discovery's reality series "Deadliest Catch" have quit, the Hollywood Reporter reports.
After being sued by Discovery for not working on a planned spin-off, Capts. Johnathan and Andy Hillstrand said bye-bye to the network. They were joined by Capt. Sig Hansen.
"We have been through a lot over the past year and unfortunately given the current situation with Discovery we are unable to continue participating in 'Deadliest Catch,'" the fishermen said in a joint written statement. "It has been a fantastic ride, and we wish the best to all of the amazing and supportive 'Catch' fans we have met over the years."
The Hillstrands are being sued for $3 million by the cable network, which claims they scuttled the spin-off "Hillstranded" by failing to finish the series.
The Hillstrands' lawyer said the lawsuit could force them to sell their boats and fire their crews.
Hansen joined the walk-out, saying, "I want people to know the captains stand together, and me and my brothers support them 100 percent."
Hansen is captain of the Northwestern on "Deadliest Catch." The Hillstrands captain the Time Bandit.
This has been a tough year for "Deadliest Catch" captains. In February, show favorite and Cornelia Marie captain Phil Harris died of a massive stroke at age 53.

How stupid can Discovery be... Granted, if the Hilstrands signed a contract to do the show, they should finish it, but this will be the end of Deadliest Catch.

I would imagine it was a personal thing and probably the mention of Phil in someway made the hilstranded show not a good one in their minds. The show was great the first year or 2, but then after that, it was the same ol same ol.

I agree, the show has kind of run it's course for me.
I would love to know what prompted the walk out, I am sure that it was something rather signifigant for them to be willing to gamble with their futures to stand by their decision.

WHat I heard was they didn't think they had time to finish the show. Their little walk off just means discover channel will not be looking to settle out of court for the loses they took on the show that wasn't finished.

The captin of the Wizard is Captin Bligh thinks his shipo is the Bounty. Keith aka the Captain of the Wizard is a Narrasitc Jerk. Sig and the Hillstrands are teaching someone how to take over for them I do not see anyone moving up like that in the Wizard. Phils Boys have no choice they have to be Huge since he died.

I just wonder how much they've edited it to make him look like a bad guy.

Not a lot of editing needed. I do think the Hillstrand brother cheap shoted him when he put him on his butt. Laughed just the same.

I don't watch a bunch of Deadlist Catch, but IRT Dangerous Roads or whatever it is called looks like it might be interesting, I hate heights and driving mountain roads with no guard rail and a thousand foot drop on a crappy road in a third world country is some scary stuff to me.

No, I am just a little freaked when I am driving around some of the back roads over there, The road loop that goes to the top of the Steen's mountain range and back down is the worst, but still such an awesome place that it is worth it and I know 99% percent of it is in my head.

The road I was on was cut through volcanic rock and the trailer wasn't clearing some of the rocky edges by more than a few inches.
